Coaching High Potentials

Attention: open in a new window. PrintE-mail

Many of today’s high potential employees see themselves as ‘free agents running their careers as ME, Inc, not limiting themselves to being a corporate employee’.  When dealing with high potentials as free agents, effective executive coaching acknowledges:

• They want to plan their career around their own goals – self fulfillment  is critical – knowing that the organisation can deliver the desired career trajectory

• Self interest needs to be dealt with openly. As high potentials  progress up the leadership pipeline, Executive Coaching can help with the required  shift towards increased consideration for the development of others.

• Deeper self awareness – especially of potential blind spots – coaching can help prevent derailment when previous strengths turn into problem areas as more senior role requirements necessitate a different mindset

Solution

The goal of Trevor-Roberts Associates’ Executive Coaching for High Potentials is to accelerate leadership growth and head off potential derailers. We assist their learning through a cycle of experience, reflection, understanding and experimentation.

During stretch assignments, the potential for failure or less than expected success offers an enormous opportunity for learning – high potentials are encouraged  to reflect on their experiences, building on the strengths that have supported them, working the areas of growth that are needed – implementing a plan for developing new habits, behaviour and/or skills.
